Beyond Words: The Power of the Object
"A wonderful fact to reflect upon, that every human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other."
Charles Dickens: A Tale of Two Cities
When words fail to communicate ambient feelings, inner thoughts, moments in time or concepts, can an object help us towards the truth?
The aim in 'Beyond Words' is to create objects capable of expressing nuances of emotion, atmosphere and ideas; objects that interact with us and shed light on what is hidden.
These pieces strive to establish an individual dialogue that probes into the 'profound and secret mystery' of what is inside.
Having glimpsed the interior the next step is to see beyond, to speculate on what is possible, to view the overt in a new light.
